In one hand, contemporary society has become accustomed to waiting and queuing for days or weeks or even months, in order to have access not just to a service or a bureaucratic procedure, but aso to buy food, or eat, flee war, request for asylum, etc., among other issues that compromise individual survival.
In the other hand, elder still been a problem nowadays. Even if during XX century eldersly start been called ‘The third age’, in an attempt to understand that stage of life as an opportunity, a window to a new begin.
Howewer, old age continues to be associated with deterioration, fragility, dependency and dementia, -a disease that has increased considerably worldwide-.
Those who must care for their elderly parents today, probably lack the willingness, patience, time or financial means to assume this role, as the performance-based society leaves no space for caregiving.
